Green Day are closing out December with two high profile events. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will make an appearance at the 2019 Game Awards on Thursday (Dec. 12) and will perform as part of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve to cap off the decade.

The Bay Area rockers will be on hand at the 2019 Game Awards on Thursday for a special performance and to make a “game-related” announcement. Game Awards founder, Geoff Keighley, recently shared that the band has a “really awesome video game announcement they’ll be making.”

While there has been no official announcement, Rock Sound TV is reporting that the band could be announcing an expansion pack for the VR game Beat Saber, which was nominated for Best VR/AR Game at last year’s Game Awards.

The Bay Area legends are no stranger to the gaming industry after launching “Green Day: Rock Band” in 2010, which featured all their songs from their American Idiot, 21st Century Breakdown and Dookie, minus the hidden track “All By Myself,” which Billie Eilish recently listed as her favorite tune from the rockers.

Fans can watch Green Day perform and make their big announcement at the 2019 Game Awards, which will live stream on Thursday (Dec. 12) here.

In other news, Green Day will help ring in 2020 on the West Coast edition of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trio will perform alongside of a pop-heavy lineup including Dua Lipa, Paula Abdul, Salt-N-Pepa and country duo Dan + Shay. Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest airs Dec. 31 at 8 PM on ABC.

The appearances come as Green Day are ramping up promotion for their 2020 album, Father of All..., which is set to drop on Feb. 7. The title track was issued earlier this fall to get the ball rolling on their new music.
