Late last night, the suspiciously timed announcement that Axl Rose would front AC/DC when they returned to the stage was officially made, but it turns out that was just the precursor of things to come for the evening. Guns N' Roses were set to headline Coachella Saturday night (April 16), and to put an exclamation point on the freshly issued news, the band brought out AC/DC's Angus Young to play a couple of songs.

As you can see in the fan-shot video above and below, Young joined the band onstage for "Whole Lotta Rosie," then the Powerage favorite "Riff Raff," giving fans their first taste of what Rose might sound like on some AC/DC tunes. The singer, still sitting upon his borrowed throne from Dave Grohl while he recovers from a broken foot, stated, "Since I can’t run around for you, we’re going to bring out for a friend to put a little life into things for us. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Angus Young!"

The news of Rose potentially fronting AC/DC had been circulating for weeks, with the rumors reaching their peak after Rose was spotted emerging from the same Atlanta studio that AC/DC's members were using. This came after AC/DC had shut down their touring earlier in the year when doctors revealed that singer Brian Johnson could face potential permanent hearing loss if he continued to tour with the group. At the time, the band postponed the 10 remaining North American dates on their run, explaining that the possibility existed that they would make them up at a later time with a different singer.

In their Saturday night statement, AC/DC thanked Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band over the years and wished him the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. They then revealed their own desire to fulfill their remaining dates and thankfully welcomes Rose, who agreed to fill in for the shows. The band's European trek kicks off May 7 in Lisbon, Portugal and runs through June 12 in Aarhus, Denmark. After that run, Rose will rejoin Guns N' Roses for their summer North American trek before re-teaming with AC/DC this fall to make up the 10 North American dates.
