I know I've heard it a few times over the years, an even though we were all convinced it wasn't happening, it is. IKEA is coming to Oklahoma.

IKEA just announced it’s bringing its first Sooner State store to Tulsa in 2026. Not the giant warehouse version like Frisco has, but a smaller format store, about 51,000 square feet.

Cool that it's coming, blessed we won't need GPS to navigate our way out. This is part of IKEA’s newer strategy, smaller footprint stores with curated products, design services, and plenty of order pickup options. Still Swedish. Still affordable. Still likely to test your patience during assembly.

The Wild Twist

Oklahoma is getting an IKEA before we get a Buc-ee’s.

I don’t think anyone had that on their bingo card.

For years, if you wanted meatballs and a bookshelf with a name you couldn’t pronounce, you had to road trip. Frisco, Dallas, Kansas City... wherever your patience ran out. Now Tulsa gets it in its own backyard.

No official grand opening date yet beyond sometime in 2026, but this is a pretty big retail win for Tulsa. It also says something about where Oklahoma is headed. Companies are finally looking at us like we’re worth the investment.

Still though… IKEA before Buc-ee’s. Did not see that coming.
