Lubbock residents craving the Buc-ees experience will only need to head towards Amarillo soon.

After some delays, construction has begun at I-30 and Airport Boulevard in Amarillo. Apparently, Buc-ees execs have a lot of faith in the project dropping $30 million dollars on the project.

So what's the big deal with Buc-ees? Well, it's like Disneyland for travelers. It's everything you've ever needed while you were on the road. Inside you'll find tons of different snacks, tons of souvenirs and gadgets, food stations, and so much more. Maybe it would be more accurate to say it's what Walmart would be if it were a roadside travel center.

It's almost odd to me that Buc-ees are as popular as they are, but they sure "wow' you when you step in. In addition to my Disneyland and Walmart references, there's also a Las Vegas vibe, where everybody is excited, vibrant, and just incredibly happy to be there.

So will Lubbock ever get a location? My guess, and it's purely a guess, is no. I think this is the kind of business that will become less popular as it becomes more accessible. It needs to be something to be anticipated rather than something that is always there. In other words, having them relatively far apart adds to their appeal.

I don't doubt that there are any of number people from Lubbock who will make a regular road trip. It would be no big deal to drive two hours and snack the whole two hours back. We will keep you updated on when you can visit the Amarillo location.
