Since it's about to be the big Texas/Oklahoma weekend. Let's look back at a movie that had a pair of guys getting murdered on the way to the big game.

October is a great time for horror movies and a fan favorite here in Texas would be 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. The original is considered one of the greatest horror movies of all time. The sequels and remakes...not so much. However, 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2' does have a Texoma connection if you didn't know.

K-OKLA Burkburnett's Fictional Rock Station

If you have never seen the sequel. Rick and Buzz are on their way to the Texas/OU game and along the way get murdered by Leatherface. Apparently, they can pick up a red river rock and roll station, which would be somewhere in our area. Well Rick and Buzz don't make it to the game and get killed in the first ten minutes of the movie.

Inside the Fictionalized Burkburnett Radio Station

Later on in the film, the radio station is used as a way to lure one of the members of the Sawyer family out. It may come as a surprise to you, but no such building exists in Burkburnett. The majority of 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2' was filmed in Austin. The building used as the exterior of the radio station is actually just a few blocks away from the infamous 6th Street in Austin.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 Filming Locations

So sadly, the Burkburnett radio station does not actually exist. This year is the 40th anniversary of 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2'. It's not as beloved as the original, but of the sequels, it's definitely towards the top of the list.
