If you think you have what it takes to be an officer with the Lawton Police Department, the LPD is looking to hire 20 recruits, and will be holding a physical try-out this Saturday, April 16, starting at 9 a.m. Applications can be picked up at the Lawton Police Department Training Division Office at the Great Plains Technology Center, 4500 SW Lee Blvd, Building 900, and are currently being accepted at City of Lawton Human Resources Department in Lawton City Hall at 212 SW 9th Street, until 4 p.m. Friday.

There will be a physical assessment and written testing held at the training center at Training Division Office, which will consist of the following: a 300-meter run (1 point deducted for every second after 72 seconds); 25 pushups in 1 minute (point deducted for each pushup under 25 in the time frame); 25 sit ups in 1 minute (1 point deducted for each sit up under 25 in the time frame); and a 16-inch vertical jump (1 point deducted for each 1.5 inches under 16 inches).

Those passing the physical assessment and written test with a score of 95% or better on the physical and 70% on the written tests, will then move on to the oral interview, which will be held from April 18th to the 20th. The scores from both the oral and written interviews must be higher than 70%; while the combined scores of the three tests must be at least 80% to move on.

You can learn more about the application process, requirements and testing process at the Lawton Police Department website.
