Massive Sinkhole Swallows a Whole Mess of Trees in a Couple of Seconds

Nothing will make you appreciate the power of nature quite like watching a dozen cypress trees being sucked underwater in the blink of an eye by a sinkhole.

Of course, this sinkhole in Louisiana isn't naturally occurring -- it was made a year ago by man, when a salt dome operated by a petrochemical company collapsed. One year later, the sinkhole, originally one acre in size, now spans 24 acres and occasionally belches up crude oil and rotting debris. The collapse of the sinkhole also released millions of cubic feet of explosive gas into the aquifer, and now it wafts up into the air.

The sinkhole continues to expand. Maybe 'Sinkhole' could be the next 'Sharknado'?
