Oklahoma’s Triple-Digit Heat Is Back, And It’s Not Leaving Anytime Soon

The July weather has been taking it really easy on Oklahoma.

Sure, we've had our hot days, but compared to what July usually feels like, we've been getting off pretty easy. More clouds. More rain. It's been really nice... But, the good times are about to end.

You've probably seen the forecast, and if you're new to Oklahoma, this is the norm.

Most of Oklahoma is about to see daily highs up in the triple digits as the summer heat dome settles over the Southern Plains. And if the long-range weather models are predicting things right, these 100-degree afternoons are here for a while.

Don't panic, the heat is far more normal than a cool and wet July.

All the same, we had a summer like this last year. Really hot in June. Cool and wet in July, but August was a flame-thrower before settling into a perpetual Fall from September to February. Stranger than fiction.

This year seems to be following a similar path, just switching the oven to bake a little earlier.

The good news is we've already stolen a couple of extra comfortable weeks that we don't always get this time of year.

The bad news? We could be in for a very long Dog Days of summer.
