Oklahoma Memorial Day Forecast, Rain
It is so wild that May continues to be on the chill side of severe weather this year.
Oklahoma just scooted through our best chance of large tornadoes Monday into Tuesday with little more than high winds, a little hail, and a few radar-indicated tornado warnings. With more rain and storms on the way, but again, not expected to be the normal May bruisers.
Astonishingly, we're experiencing a year when April was more severe than May.
May showers continue.
Over the next five days, somewhere in Oklahoma is expecting the next weather system to come sweeping down the plain.
The good news is, we need the rain in the worst way, pretty much everywhere across the state.
The even better news is that while the National Weather Service is expecting strong thunderstorms, the outlook for severe weather is just a one-day blip throughout the Memorial Day weekend.
The bummer... This next system will consume our Memorial Day weekend. Which isn't out of the ordinary for us. Most years are wet at least one day around the holiday weekend.

Granted, this graphic is oriented mostly for the Western half of the state, but the Tulsa side of OK is expecting rain too.
The next round of storms won't be statewide, but each day will see showers and thunderstorms in different portions of the state over the next nine or ten days. Heavy rain at times, some good soakers, and maybe another chance for a few severe storms.
Looking ahead to June.
Wild to think we're already talking about June, and why not? It's apparently going to be beautiful.
Warm temps and predicted average rain, which is something the entire state needs right now. It'll be a good thing if it comes true.

All the same, in previous years when we've had pretty gentle May's, we've had historically wild and violent June's... That's not to say we're on track for that as of yet. Truth be told, nobody knows.
The last time we had a mellow May, a derecho/straight-line wind event swept through our little corner of SWOK and broke nearly every tree in town. It was a good year to be a roofer.
Time will tell, what can happen usually does happen.
