One of the things I've learned over the years is to never underestimate the retired women of Oklahoma.

This isn't even the old "Oklahoma Standard" respect your elders thing either.

I've learned over the years that some of our eldest Sooner State women will absolutely smoke you in a game of dominoes. They'll humble you at gin rummy, and apparently... they'll also destroy you in Wii bowling.

I had no idea this was even a thing until recently, but Oklahoma is home to one of the nation's best Wii bowling teams. It's made up of a group of senior women from University Village Retirement Community in Tulsa.

They're also six-time undefeated champs.

It's the most wholesome Oklahoma story imaginable.

If you grew up in the Wii era, bowling was the first game everyone played. You'd always plan to try other games, but just like Mario and Duck Hunt on the OG Nintendo, the only games you really play are the ones that came with it.

Now, years later, as we all probably figured Wii bowling disappeared with Blockbuster and plasma TVs, it's still standing strong... It just moved into Oklahoma's senior centers.

These ladies don't just compete with each other either... They travel to tournaments and have become one of the best teams in the country, which is as impressive as it is hilarious.

We all hope to have that fire and spirit when we're in that stage of life.

Can you imagine walking into a national tournament thinking you've got this... only to get absolutely dismantled by a grandmother named Linda who's been throwing virtual strikes since 2008?

I'd never recover.

The funny part is, the more I thought about it, the more it made perfect sense.

It's bowling without hauling around a heavy ball. It gets people on their feet, gives everybody something to laugh about, something to compete over, and of course, bragging rights.

That's a good deal.

So if anyone out there still thinks video games are only for kids, Oklahoma's nationally ranked Wii bowlers would probably like a word.

Just don't challenge them unless you're ready to lose.

Oklahoma's World Records

While the world considers Oklahoma to be fly-over territory, there are plenty of worldly accolades here in the Sooner State. Here's a quick ten.

Oklahoma's Best Burgers

That may be a misleading title. With something so subjective to the individual, how can we universally declare any burger the "best" in Oklahoma? So maybe we should just call this a list of great burgers across the Sooner State.
