Did you know Oklahoma has a nudist community?

Yeah, Oklahoma. The most conservative state in the nation.

At least that's according to TikTok, which had a rundown on the 10 most something-or-other nudist resorts in Oklahoma and sent me down one of those 2AM ADHD research rabbit holes.

I could have just looked at all of the "No Way" and "This isn't true" comments and called it a day, but as it turns out, the Sooner State does have a very few nudist destinations.

In an attempt to, well, expose the truth with dignity and class, here's a quick rundown.

After digging through business listings and naturist directories, I found there are really only two established nudist resorts in Oklahoma.

The biggest, and by far the best known, is Oaklake Trails near Depew.

It's been around since the early 90s and is pretty massive. It's 400 acres of clothing-optional land between OKC and Tulsa. And it's not some huge secret campground people snicker about online. It's a legitimate, family-oriented naturist resort like any other normal camping resort in Oklahoma.

Learning something new every day, right?

The second is near Stuart, a place called Wakefield Country Inn and Winery.

It's not on the same scale as Oaklake Trails, but they're keeping in the same spirit. All about being natural in nature, clothing-optional.

That's pretty much the list.

A lot of the places mentioned on social media aren't nudist resorts at all. They merely host naturist gatherings once in a while, or at some point in their own existence.

That also means there are no official nude beaches in Oklahoma, despite what you'll occasionally read online. You can't just wander out on the sands of Broken Bow and bare it all to nature. That's against the law.

In fact, any amount of public nudity can be charged as a felony in the Sooner State and can come with hefty fines, jail time, and lifelong registration as a sex offender.

If it's illegal, why are nudist camps in Oklahoma?

Well, if you wanted to walk around your own backyard naked, that's your own private property. The difference is between public and private.

So when your TikTok feed starts showing you half a dozen hidden nudist resorts across Oklahoma, take it with a grain of salt and a large towel.

Oklahoma's Ten Best Fishing Lakes

When it comes to fishing, not all lakes are equal. While you can fish and catch fish in just about every body of water in the Sooner State, there are only a handful of lakes Oklahoma anglers get serious about.

Here are the top fishing lakes in Oklahoma.

Lake Altus-Lugert and SWOK's Underwater Ghost Town

Like most rare things, conditions have to be just right to see one of Oklahoma's hidden gems. In years of good and average rainfall, the lost town of Lugert stays buried beneath the waves... but in dry years, especially those stricken by drought, you can walk around this pre-statehood townsite while enjoying one of Oklahoma's prettiest areas, Quartz Mountain State Park.
