Can you really judge the strength of a team based on how it plays itself?

That probably isn't something you should point out to the Oklahoma State fan in your life. I made that mistake with my sister, who happens to be a booster, and let's just say she wasn't particularly interested in my statistical analysis of the situation.

Here's the thing, there are plenty of legitimate reasons for Oklahoma State fans to feel better about the Cowboys heading into this season. After years of asking for change, they finally got it.

Mike Gundy is gone. Eric Morris is in. The coaching staff is new. The roster is more than half new recruits. OSU even set a transfer portal record in the off-season.

Tomorrow, Oklahoma State Heads To Tulsa

This game means more than any season opener they've had before.

A year ago, Tulsa walked out of Boone Pickens Stadium with a 19-12 win. It was a loss so bad, they fired Mike Gundy over it. The literal savior of Oklahoma State athletics, tossed out with the gameday trash.

Now the Cowboys are tasked with starting this new era against the same team.

$20 says Netflix is already developing the script for this story. We haven't had a good sports movie in a while.

And yes, while there are bigger games on the schedule, gulp - Oregon - it all starts in Tulsa... Who is our new arch-rival now that OU is the SEC's new OSU...

I bet Coach Morris is beyond nervous. Tomorrow, we find out if the Cowboys have regrown their peaches.
