Pearl Jam are back in action this week after taking most of 2017 off. The band kicked off their 2018 touring at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile last night (March 13) and with their performance, they also gave their new song "Can't Deny Me" its live debut.

The track came late within the body of the band's set, with Eddie Vedder first taking the time to address the Chilean crowd in their native tongue, while dedicating the track to the students of Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

As you can see in the fan-shot video from the performance, Eddie Vedder provides extra percussion for the aggressive track, playing a metal chair that's been fitted with a cowbell.

"Can't Deny Me" was initially released as an exclusive offering to the band's fan club, but it has since received a wider release. The song was co-produced by the band with Brendan O'Brien and is the first taste of new music the group is working on for their next studio album. While the work toward a new album has been confirmed, a timeline for the release has not been set.

In addition to the debut of "Can't Deny Me," the opening night set featured covers of Van Halen's "Eruption," Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," The Who's "Baba O'Riley" and their recorded covers of Victoria Williams' "Crazy Mary" and Wayne Cochran's "Last Kiss." The band also delivered a moving performance of "Come Back" that was dedicated to the late Chris Cornell (which can be seen in fan-shot video below).

Pearl Jam are starting their 2018 touring in South America this month. They also have European shows booked for June and July before returning stateside in August to play a string of baseball venue shows. All of their dates can be found here.
