A group of concerned Lawton citizens have set out to bring some joy to the Veterans currently residing at the Veterans Center on Flower Mound in Lawton.

As you know, with the onset of the novel Coronavirus COVID19, residents in retirement centers saw a drastic change to visitation policies.  That means that since the onset, residents at the VA Center have had no in person visitors, and frankly, it's taking a toll on their mental well being.

Enter, this unnamed citizen group.  They have reached out to outlets like ours to get the word out that they want to honor our Vets with a drive-by parade.

The parade will state in the parking lot at First Baptist East, at the corner of Flower Mound Road, and Lee Boulevard beginning at 9:30am Saturday morning.  Drivers are encouraged to decorate signs and cars for the short drive to the VA Center.  The Parade will leave First Baptist East at approximately 9:55am.  They will drive through the parking lot at the Veterans Center at 10 o'clock and be finished as soon as all of the cars have gone through!

If you'd like to be a part of bringing smiles and joy to these sheltered heroes, just make plans now to be at the church parking lot, Saturday at 9:30.  Trust me, the soldiers will love the attention, and I can just about guarantee that you will get a great feeling bringing joy to those who have given so much in service to our country.
