The Lawton Sam’s Club Already Has Halloween Stuff Out

I think we've all pretty much experienced the same thing these past seven-ish months. We're all still processing what happened in 2020, and 2022 is less than five months away. Where in the world does time go? Worse yet, the older you get, the faster it flies. It doesn't help at all when corporations get a massive head start on the holiday season. Nearly three full months away from it, and Sam's Club already has all their Halloween stuffs out for the masses to shop.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about Halloween stuff being out so early. It's the only holiday I enjoy and actually decorate for each year. Thanksgiving? Meh. Christmas? Blegh. Saint Patricks? That's a hard no beyond wearing something green to avoid the old lady pinchers at work... but Halloween is a whole different ballgame. It's a short period of time where you can make your house and office look like an Affliction t-shirt, except instead of being super lame, it's super awesome and festive. I don't even take my few decorations down during the year inside. Skulls and the occult is just part of the regular decor nowadays.

It just struck me as odd, in a time that's almost universally "Back To School" exclusive, and we get the first peeks at what is to come in less than sixty days. Then again, I guess back to school isn't the guarantee it used to be. I know in my small hometown, there's a pretty public and vocal argument happening about whether schools should open to in-person learning or not with the resurgence of the new covid release. One can only assume that discussion is happening in most towns and school districts across Oklahoma too. But at least we have spooktacular stuff to keep us occupied for the moment. I've been making a daily drive out to the West Side to see if the Spirit Halloween sign has gone up yet, but it hasn't been spotted just yet. Time will tell, things will happen, and we'll all end up thinking "Where did the time go?" after christmas is over.
