I'd almost forgotten how popular the late '50s greaser culture was in the eighties. If you weren't doing drugs, this might drive you to it.

I can seriously remember, shortly after celebrating the centennial anniversary of Oklahoma's land run, how the big skirts and knit sweaters seemed to sort of stick for a few months in my small Oklahoma town. Add in the '80s epic big bangs and teased hairstyles, and it was like a cross between Back to the Future and Grease.

You had the music and hair bands of the '80s, somehow perfectly meshed with embroidered poodle skirts and satin jackets. Life was wild.

Though, I will say... Zubas and wildly colorful windbreaker suits will always be my wonder years.
