From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitties 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!

This young lad is the very appropriately named Goliath, a Great Pyrenees Mix, that tips the scales at 84 pounds This 2 year old boy was brought to us as an owner surrender because he was getting a bit too protective of the children. Goliath's only downfall is that he is not compatible with other male dogs and it will result in a fight. He loves human companionship, is good with female dogs but is not fond of cats. This boy is amazing with children and is super gentle as long as they treat him with the respect he deserves.

Goliath has been neutereded and is up-to-date on shots. For more information and to meet this gal, call SCHS at 580-252-7387.

This young man is Franklin, a male Blue Tick Beagle, and he's about 1 year old. He is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccines, and he is microchipped. Franklin was transferred from Lawton Animal Welfare in hopes of finding a forever home.

Franklin enjoys being brushed and petted. He has a beautiful coat with red and blue markings. He likes to be outside with you and other dogs, but doesn't want to be left out alone or he will sing the song of his people. He has been pretty mellow so far but once he warms up he is more interactive. He really wants to play with other dogs but understands if they don't want to play with him. Franklin likes all size dogs and prefers to have a doggy playmate, and perks right up if another dog is around. He also seems to do okay with cats so far.

If you would like more information on this handsome blue tick/beagle please contact Brandi at 580-483-4028.

    Rainbow Bridge Can Wait - 580 919-0439

This sweet girl is Karma. She is a 4 year old Shepherd blend who absolutely loves people. She is house broken and loves to play with toys. She gets along with dogs as long as they are the same size as her or larger.

However, she does not appreciate smaller dogs at all. She would make a great dog for a family or a single person as long as lots of love and toys are involved.

Karma's adoption fee is $140.00. She comes with up to date age appropriate shots, dewormed, treated for fleas and ticks, and heart worm negative.  She is on monthly heart worm preventative and is micro chipped. The rescue pays for activation of the chip and up to a year of monitoring. Karma also comes with 30 days of free veterinary insurance to be activated by the adopters.  If you are interested in Karma, please contact Rainbow Bridge Can Wait on Facebook or on Petfinder.

    Carnegie Animal Shelter - 580 682-9073

We have a three dogs in Carnegie this week, who can be adopted either together or separately.
The first is a brown female, who has stayed past her time, because she really needed it. She just came out of her kennel yesterday and allowed human contact, which was a major break through. She needs a human she can trust to never hurt her. I thought she may be a pit/mix, but that is uncertain.

The male is a bigger brindle boy, between 3 and 5 and needs special care because he is blind in one eye. He has old wounds and he crouches when he comes out of his kennel like is is nervous that he might be hit or something, but he is so loving, and only wants to be petted. He has not shown any aggression from, just a nervous desire to be loved.

The female is between 1 and 2 and she is a mostly white pit/mix. She has no fear of people or other dogs. Everyone who has been near her have fallen in love with her, but she seems to be somewhat aggressive toward the other dogs. It may be food aggression, and often dogs who act like this at the pound totally change behavior in a home environment.

For more information, or to meet either of these two, contact the Carnegie Animal Shelter at 580 682-9073

    Southwest Oklahoma Animal Network - 580 482-8945

This is Bailey. She is a sweet girl that spent the early part of her life as an outside only dog. She is very friendly and will need lots of TLC and patience. Bailey  appears to be a 2-3 year-old Retriever Mix, and weighs 55-60 lbs. She is full of energy and just wants to run and play.

Bailey will require a little lead, and obedience training, but she is crate trained. She is current on her vaccinations, including Parvo/distemper, Bordatella, rabies and she tested negative for heart worms. She has also been spayed and microchipped.

Bailey is a very sweet girl that has some potential, and just needs some love to bring that potential out. With a little training she should make a great addition to active family. To meet Bailey, please call the Southwest Oklahoma Animal Network at 580 482-8945
