OKC Zoo Changing Hours During Oklahoma Heat Wave

The OKC Zoo has announced it's modifying its hours during this heat wave out of concern for zoo-goers. Opening a little earlier during the cooler portion of the day, and closing in the early afternoon before the heat of the day sets in.

Starting Sunday, July 26th, the zoo will start opening at 8 AM daily and close things down at 2 PM each day through the 30th.

Don't think of it as a bummer. The OKC Zoo does this when the temperatures get this hot outside. It's not only for the people enjoying everything the zoo has to offer, but also for the animals too. I'm sure they'd rather be in the air conditioning too.

Depending on what the forecast shows as we approach the bookmarked return to normal hours, they could extend this out another week or so. While Oklahoma weather is generally the easiest to predict in the summer, it's still not written in stone. Things change.
