From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital, highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitty 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!

SCHS would like to introduce Tiny, an 8-year old chihuahua who lives up to his name, as he weighs in at only 9 lbs. His owners moved away and couldn't take Tiny with them, so they surrendered him to SCHS.

Tiny is a great little companion, and is good with other dogs, cats and older children. He prefers a quieter environment and is ready to find his furr-ever home. Tiny's is up-to-date on his vaccinations, is fixed and is sponsored by The Duncan Banner, so there is no adoption fee.

For more information about Tiny, or to arrange a meet and greet with this little guy, please call the Stephens County Humane Society at 580-252-7387!

Looking for a small space in your home and in your heart. My name is Bruno, and I've been waiting for a furr-ever home, since the end of June, and was watching everyone during our Free-A-Friend campaign. Although I'm happy for everyone who got adopted since then, I'm ready and willing to go to a great loving home. Do you love dogs? I bet I can win your heart over.

Sometimes we get mislabeled, such as in my case, they have me down as a Shepard mix, but I'm more of a Corgi mix, I may be small in stature, but I'm big in the heart. I'm also not 10 Years Old, more like 6 and have years of life and energy left in me. Would you like to meet up for a play date?

Come on down and meet Bruno, and let him into your heart and home. Lawton Animal Welfare is located at 2104 NW 6th Street in Lawton. For more information, please call 580 355-7729.

Everyone, meet Dutchess, a female, Westin/Terrier Mix, who is approximately 3 years old and weighs about 47 pounds. She loves to play all the time, especially fetch and tug of war. Dutchess is good with big and small dogs and cats (as long as they like her), and she loves going on walks or even runs; the longest walk she's been on was 6 miles and did fine. She has a lot of energy.

Dutchess is leash and kennel trained, house broken, spayed, and up to date on her vaccination. She knows commands to sit, stay, go to bed (she will go to her humans bed for the bedtime), and she knows kennel and will go and sit in her kennel.

If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please contact Dallas with the Lawton Humane Society at 580-583-9933.

    Rainbow Bridge Can Wait - 580 919-0439

This is Kerry, a 1 to 2 year old Airedale mix, sweet & shy. She needs a little time to warm up & likes to do that on her own terms; she seems to be coming out of her shell a little more everyday. Kerry is house & kennel trained, and enjoys playing with other dogs but is skittish when people are loud or move quickly. She is good with people of all ages & sizes.

Kerry would probably do best in a home with other social, well behaved dogs to help her figure things out.   Kerry comes with up to date, age appropriate shots, she is heart-worm negative, micro-chipped, and on heart worm preventative, as well as flea and tick preventative.

If you are interested in meeting Kerry, please contact Rainbow Bridge Can Wait on Facebook or at 580 654-2513.

My name is Trey, and I was found in danger in an area shelter. I am a very sweet terrier mix, about 3 years old. I have been staying with the nice foster family from SOAN for a short time, butI really would like to find a furr-ever home.

I am just a fun little dog that enjoys playing with my foster canine and human family, and with my toys. I should fit into any family and will do my best to make a great pet. I am current on all his vaccinations and have tested negative for heartworms and 3 tick borne diseases. I have also has been micro-chipped.

Trey may need an occasional grooming to keep his coat in nice shape. And, depending on his breed, may also be fairly non-shedding. For more information about adopting Trey, e-mail swoan@swbell.net.

Willbarger Humane Society (Vernon, TX) - 940 552-5373

This young lady is Lola, the Wilbarger Humane Society's pet of the week this week. Lola is a beautiful brindle and white German Shepard mix and is around 9 months old. She still has a lot of her puppy energy and would probably do good with a young family who has time to work with her on training. She does well in crates and also with housebreaking but needs to have some leash work so she does not run once she gets outside. Once she starts to run she will not listen, but that is again the puppy in her. She will make a wonderful dog with some patience and training and once she grows her naughty habits will get better.

Come look at Lola and see if she is the beautiful girl your family needs. We are located at 2801 Sullivan St in Vernon Tx. You can reach us by phone at 940-552-5373 or by email at whs76384@gmail.com. To put an application on any of our animals please visit www.wilbargerhumanesocietyvernontx.org
