U.S. Senate Looks to Put an End to Daylight Savings Time!
Twice a year we have the same complaints and conversations about daylight savings time. Most of us agree that it's a stupid practice and we should stop doing it. Let's pick a time and stick with it, enough with all the clock changes already. I guess it made sense in the 'old days' but not anymore. It was originally done to help conserve energy, but it never really worked out the way people thought it would. It's a waste of time, literally!
Well, it looks like the U.S. Senate is finally going to put an end to daylight savings time and all the clock changing. There's a new bill called the 'Sunshine Protection Act' that would make daylight savings time permanent, in a good way. In other words, once we set the clocks forward an hour we wouldn't fall back we'd just keep them there. We've talked about this for years and now it's looking like it will actually happen.
Now, before you get too damn excited keep in mind that just because the U.S. Senate passed it, unanimously I might add. It still has to go through the entire legislative process and be heard in the U.S. House, then finally be signed into law by the President. I will say so far so good and support for the bill seems to be gaining.
If it does pass and manage to get approved we'll put an end to all the clock changes next Spring. We'll still set the clocks back this Fall, then again in the Spring for daylight savings time, but after that, it would become the new permanent time going forward. So what do you think about all this? Take the quick poll below and let us know your thoughts and opinions on finally putting an end to daylight savings time.
