Underoath's Aaron Gillespie has branched out beyond the band's sound before, but with his latest offering, he's stepping into a new arena. Watch the video for his collaboration with electronic music artist Rezz for the song "Falling" in the player at the bottom of this post.

The clip was inspired by the virtual reality world and the desire to escape, with director Colin G. Cooper placing both musicians within the clip. “I love that neither of them come off like they’re conceding anything or trying to change their sound to fit whatever expectations listeners might have for their respective genres, which often happens in a crossover situation. They’re both doing their own thing in a genuine way, and it fits so well together,” says Cooper, adding, “The concept we landed on is essentially about using VR as a metaphor for being trapped in your own negative, depressive, or anxious thoughts, which can ultimately be self-destructive.”

Gillespie has joined Rezz at a few recent performances, and Rezz says landing the musician has been a big thrill. "I grew up listening to Underoath,” says Rezz. “Working with Aaron was so fun and effortless. It was great to revisit some of what I consider my earliest musical inspiration."

Gillespie added, "Working with Rezz has been such a shock to my system in every way. I never expected to be part of the electronic music world, and I never expected to like it as much as I do. Rezz’s talent speaks for itself. This song is so cathartic. I’m so stoked for everyone to hear it.”

Take a listen to the song and watch the video below. The track will be featured on Rezz's Beyond the Senses album, due July 24. Pre-orders are available here.

Rezz will hit the road for a new leg of dates starting June 21 in New York. See all the stops listed below, and head here for ticketing info.
