It was a SOLD OUT show this past Thursday (03-07-13) at the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City, OK. as Volbeat, Danko Jones and Spoken took to the stage for an unforgettable concert experience. It was one hell of a night, those who made the trip and were in attendance got more than their monies worth!

Several members of the loyal., royal Z94 Army were at the show, some even won FREE TICKETS from Z94 the 'Concert Connection' and DCF Concerts. Not a member yet? Get signed up today. It's quick, easy and ABSOLUTELY FREE! There's real benefits for being a member like free tickets to this Summer's biggest concert events and more!

Not just free tickets, some of you even got to meet the band! We not only have your shot at winning tickets to see your favorite bands live in concert, we'll get you back stage to meet them live in person! Yet another benefit of being a member of the Z-Army! Check out the photos below of the Volbeat pre-show "Meet & Greet".

Spoken got the evening started with an aggressive high energy, metallic, hard-core set that included 'Through It All' the first single off their new album 'Illusion'. This was the first time I've have the opportunity to see them live, and hopefully not the last. The set was short, but they more than made up for it with intensity!

Next up was Danko Jones out on the road in support of his new album 'Rock And Rock Is Black And White' in stores and online now. If you've never seen him live, you're missing out. As great as his album's are, he's even better live! It took about 5 seconds for the crowd to be whipped into a rock n' roll, blues infused frenzy! As incredible as his guitar playing and band are, his on stage banter and the way he interacts with the crowd is equally entertaining. After the show the unanimous opinion of Danko Jones was "A f#@k load of fun".  That's an accurate description of his show. If you get the chance to see 'em live, don't pass it up!

After two great bands the evening's headliner Volbeat took to the stage! I've only seen them one other time, and that was at last year's Rocklahoma. The downside to larger festivals is shortened set times, you get to see a lot of different bands, but only a sampling. So I was really looking forward to seeing Volbeat play a full set and they didn't disappoint. We got a full hour and a half of solid rock, metal, punk, country, rock-a-billy and blues!

VOLBEAT "MEET & GREET" AND LIVE CONCERT PHOTOS:

This was Volbeat's 7th show for the 1st leg of the U.S. tour in support of the new disk 'Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies' due to be released on Tuesday, April 9th 2013 (04-09-13) Volbeat welcome a new 'Guitar Gangster' to the band Mr. Rob Caggiano formerly of Anthrax! He assisted in producing the new album and ended up joining the band as a full time member in the process. He added his own unique flare and style to the Volbeat sound Thursday night as he and frontman Michael Poulsen traded licks. It was something to see to say the least. We even got to hear some new stuff off 'Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies' including: "Lola Montez", "The Hangman's Body Count" and the Young The Giant cover "My Body".

It amazes me how connected this band is to it's fans. There's very little separation from on stage, to front of stage when it comes to Volbeat. I don't mean physical barriers either, I'm talking about the closeness and the way they treat the fans. You feel like a member of the band! Last Thursday night was a big 'sing-a-long' with Mike and the guys taking the lead and the rest of us doing backing vocals. These guys are fans that just happen to be on stage!

I'd like to thank Volbeat, DCF Concerts, band and tour management, the Diamond Ballroom and the record label for inviting Z94 to the party! Thanks for an unforgettable evening, the interview with Mr. Poulsen and of course the pre-show "Meet & Greet". I'd also like to thank our photographer that evening, my lovely wife Cyndi who just happens to be Volbeat's #1 fan! She did a great job and had a great time doing it. Already looking forward to the next show!

Prior to the concert Michael Poulsen, the frontman of Volbeat gave us a call for a quick interview to talk about the tour, their new album “Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies” to be released on Tuesday, April 9th 2013 (04-09-13) We also talked about the newest member of the band Mr. Rob Caggiano and all things VOLBEAT!
