If you’ve never heard of it, the World’s Largest Rattlesnake Roundup is exactly what it sounds like, and it’s happening in about six weeks. March 13-15 in Sweetwater, Texas.

Every year, folks from all over show up for a full weekend built around rattlesnakes, West Texas style. The event has been going on for decades, and the way Sweetwater leans into it, it'll not going anywhere anytime soon.

You can expect all of the things that come with a rattlesnake roundup. People handling snakes, educational talks, and some death-defying shenanigans in the snake pit. It’s equal parts history lesson and science.

Aren't They All The Same?

Yes and no. While all rattlesnake roundups are generally similar, there's only one World's Biggest, and it's not that far a drive to check out for most Oklahomans. .

If you’re looking for a different kind of road trip, this one qualifies. You’ll probably learn something, eat something fried, and tell at least one story that starts with, “So I went to this rattlesnake thing once…”
