Meteorologists Double Down on Oklahoma Snowpocalypse
Here we are, a mere 24 hours later, and the whispy chance of a dusting across Oklahoma has now become a full-blown predicted ice and snowstorm.
Better take us to Braum's DEFCON 2. It's time to get the bread and milk.
Just as Oklahoma is so well known for our tornado season, winter is just as reckless.
While we do occasionally get a wallopping snow accumulation - 16 inches in one day just a few years ago - it's our incredible ice storms that we're so famous for.
Being in the middle of where cold Arctic air meets wet Gulf moisture, the reason why tornadoes are so common here, it's both warm enough to rain and cold enough to freeze at the same time.
The forecast as of now.
While we're still days away from the projected winter storm, meteorologists are doubling down on what may transpire.
Normally we'd all turn a deaf ear to this because, well, there's ad revenue to be made in selling the hype. Keeping people glued to the TV for the sake of running commercials... but it's different when the meteorologists have no skin in the game.
@accuweather A winter storm this week could deliver more than a year's worth of snow to Dallas, where the historical average annual snowfall, including sleet, is 1.6 inches. AccuWeather's Bernie Rayno breaks it down and how it could impact the East Coast later this week. #winter #winterstorm #dallas #dfw #fortworth #metroplex #texas #snow #forecast #accuweather ♬ original sound - AccuWeather
I know Accuweather has a pretty sizeable web presence, especially on mobile phones, but they've become more trusted than The Weather Channel across Oklahoma in recent years. Ever since that whole deadly hurricane conditions/people strolling behind the reporter bunch of shenanigans anyway...
It is worth noting that Texas is predicted to take a pretty big winter hit too, which is unfortunate.
They've only had four years to correct and bulk up their power grid, which is apparently not long enough again in 2025.
Texans also don't have a Braum's to source their needed winter storm essentials at, but I'm sure between HEB, United, Allsup's, and Buc-ee's, they'll manage.
