We are just two weeks away from celebrating America's Independence Day and families all over Oklahoma are scrambling to make plans.

With the economic woes every American is feeling these days trying to afford everything from rent to food, it's always nice to find something fun for the whole family and free.

The Beach Boys - America's band - will be performing a free 4th of July concert at a little Texas town outside of Lake Texoma - Sherman, Texas.

Because this will probably be a huge event, the City of Sherman has been keeping this news pretty quiet - you won't find anything on their website about this free show in their town... but you can't keep secrets with a band as big as The Beach Boys.

While details are limited, I spoke with someone at the Sherman, TX parks department. The Beach Boys will take the stage in Pecan Grove Park on Wednesday, July 3rd, around 7 pm with a fireworks show to follow around 9:30 pm.

There are no tickets to buy, it's a 100% free concert. All you have to do is show up and take in a likely last chance to see The Beach Boys before Mike Love and the guys finally wander off into the sunset of retirement.

If you can't make the Sherman free show, you'll have at least one more chance to see The Beach Boys in Oklahoma. They have a show coming up in late July at a casino in Tulsa... but why not make the effort to see them for free while celebrating America?

Unique Things to Do in Oklahoma City

There is no shortage of things to do in OKC. While there are a handful of things everyone knows about--OKC Zoo, Myriad Gardens, Bricktown, etc-- there are even more lesser-known places to experience one-of-a-kind Oklahomaness. Some things cost a little money, others are completely free, but it's all fun for the whole family.

Things Invented in Oklahoma

When people think about Oklahoma, they think of what they've seen in movies. Tornadoes, the Murrah bombing, maybe the land runs, and probably meth... our four mountain ranges are as unknown as the contributions Oklahoma has made to modern life. Here are some random things that were invented here.
