Just when you thought it was safe to pick up a half gallon of that sweet creamy goodness, Blue Bell is looking at another listeria outbreak.

The timing couldn't be any worse. Blue Bell is just now getting back into stores in other states after their similar recall earlier this year. That particular event caused listeria in at least ten people, killing three of them.

Looking to prevent the exact same thing from happening, Blue Bell is urging the public to avoid some of their products.

I think it's fair to say, consumers should just take a pass on Blue Bell at this point... but that's easier said than done in places other than Oklahoma. You see, in Texas, there is only Blue Bell.

Sure, Walmart/Kroger/HEB/etc peddle their own brand of frozen desert, and there are other national brands, but Blue Bell is something Texans take seriously. It's their brand. It's practically an identity. The same can be said throughout much of the Southern US.

Luckily for us, in the case of 'best ice creams,' we've got the granddaddy of them all... Braum's. Known for their ridiculously good ice creams and the best burgers in Oklahoma. Founded and based in the Sooner State, but slowly spreading larger through the Great Plains.
