The CDC Has Two Active Outbreak Recalls For Oklahoma

It seems that Oklahoma is pretty much deaf to the Centers for Disease Control these days, but it's worth mentioning there are a few outbreaks currently going on in Oklahoma.

The good news is, these aren't large-scale outbreaks. The other side of that coin is that there are some serious health concerns if you've been unknowingly affected by the latest recalled products.

First up, applesauce. Specifically, cinnamon applesauce that normally comes in kid-friendly pouches.

These relatively common and popular squeezy applesauce tubes have tested high in chromium and lead. While chromium may be a common and healthy mineral for humans, that's not so in the tested amounts the CDC has identified in these products. Same for lead, only it's dangerous all around and toxic to humans.

So far they've positively tested and identified victims of this SNAFU in 44 states including Oklahoma.

The smaller scale outbreak.

There's a new wave of salmonella sweeping across a few states in the nation, and the blame is being laid on poorly packaged charcuterie kits.

While those brands likely won't look familiar to us in Oklahoma, there are more than a few brands affected by using the same packer.

• Beretta
• Black Bear
• Busseto
• Culinary Tour
• Dietz and Watson
• Lidl
• Publix
• Salumi Artigianali

If you don't know how to identify salmonella, it's not a pleasant affliction at all. Be on guard if any of the following happen to you.

• Diarrhea and a fever higher than 102°F
• Diarrhea for more than 3 days that is not improving
• Bloody diarrhea
• So much vomiting that you cannot keep liquids down
• Signs of dehydration, such as:
  
  • Not peeing much
  • Dry mouth and throat
  • Feeling dizzy when standing up

These are the first outbreaks to hit Oklahoma since the Covid-19 pandemic erupted across the country.
