Gun-Toting Santa Billboard Sparks Outrage in Oklahoma
Is this a case of poor judgment or politics creeping further into the holidays? You tell me.
A gun store in Oklahoma City is making waves with a recent billboard advertisement featuring Santa Claus holding a gun, and some Okies find it against the grain of the holiday.
It's an ad for H&H Shooting Sports--Oklahoma's (likely) most well-known gun store where all the newbs and old Fudd's shop--and it sparked a lively debate on social media over the weekend.
Is it OK for Santa to be holding a gun?
Before I make a case for Tactical Santa having to deliver presents in Mid-Del and Tulsa, let me first say that Santa is usually the source for every kid's first gun... at least in Oklahoma, it is.
I asked Santa for one when I was a kid--he delivered. My pals did the same thing growing up, but this was in the golden age of cable TV when there was no other option than to watch A Christmas Story for 24 hours straight.
Even as I've grown older, I still ask Santa for guns... and rent... and cash... 'Merica.
I would assume that the majority of Oklahomans also have no qualms with a gun-toting Santa given our state's deep appreciation for the finer things in life like our collective constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
How do you feel about the image of Santa Claus being used to advertise firearms?
