Hollywood is Also Leaving California for Texas
California and Texas have had a love/hate relationship for the better part of this century so far. Ever-increasing taxes and government policies hostile to all who live and do business in the Golden State have opened a floodgate into Texas.
Since California started to tip into the metaphorical ocean, millions of residents have fled to other states and some +/-235 companies have left for greener pastures, including:
- Chevron
- Tech giants Norton and McAfee
- Pabst Blue Ribbon
- Hewlett Packard
- Charles Schwab
- Tesla and Space-X
- Wiley-X
- American Airlines
- Obagi
- Vista Health
- Lucas Oil
- Neutrogena
- Kelly-Moore Paint and many, many more.
It seems the Hollywood movie machine is next to follow the masses to Texas, and it's all being done under the radar.
So far, studios and production companies have been quietly popping up across the Lone Star State backed by star-studded Hollywood power-players.
In fact, if you Googled how many movie studios are in Texas, the list is very long and it's growing everyday. New studio projects are being planned, and some are still under construction, but Texas may soon be the new home of Hollywood.
Why?
It's the same reason Californians are leaving already... Money.
Texas is not only cheaper in all aspects of life and business, but the government is making Texas look even more attractive financially through tax incentives and a favorable tax code. You could build 13 new studios in Texas for what one would currently cost in California. The land is that much cheaper in the Lone Star State.
Even as Hollywood feared Georgia would sweep in and take over the movie-making business, Texas has flown under the radar until now. As more and more high-profile shows and movies film down south, it's only a matter of time before Hollywood becomes the next thing that once belonged to California.
