Somehow this topic came up at the water cooler today. Is corporal punishment allowed in Oklahoma and could you be breaking the law by spanking your children? Some say you could be charged with child abuse.

Another great water cooler debate got underway this morning as we argued the legalities of corporal punishment in the Sooner State. Someone mentioned spanking their child yesterday and the debate was on.

There's been some confusion and misinformation about corporal punishment in Oklahoma due to new legislation that was passed (Title 70-13-116). A lot of people thought it outlawed the practice of spanking.

OKLAHOMA HAS UPDATED ITS LAWS ON CORPORAL PUNISHMENT IN SCHOOLS

The new law basically prohibits the use of corporal punishment in Oklahoma schools on students with disabilities or cognitive issues. It doesn't make corporal punishment illegal completely. Click here for details.

The methodology behind the study used median household incomes, the percentage of the population with college educations, and median home prices in determining just how snobby a town or city is. Most would agree with the results below. Unless you live in one of these places, then you may disagree. Also, keep in mind this list was all done in good fun. Sure there's some truth to the findings but like most places, you'll find both good and bad.
