
Valentine’s Day Weekend Brings Potential Severe Weather To Oklahoma
More than just heavy rain and romance is now on tap for Oklahoma this weekend. The system that's moving in before Valentine's Day now has increased chances for severe weather Friday and Saturday.
Local meteorologists have been tracking a system headed for Oklahoma before Valentine's Day weekend. Initially, heavy rain and possible flooding were the main concerns, but now it's looking like severe weather could be possible for some.
Strong to severe storms could impact Oklahoma on Friday and Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, portions of southwest, south central and southeast Oklahoma could see strong to severe storms both Friday and Saturday afternoon and evening. The biggest concerns will be large hail and damaging winds.
A quarter of an inch of rain expected across Oklahoma by Sunday.
Heavy rain is still a main factor with the upcoming system. Showers and scattered thunderstorms will increase Friday evening and continue into Saturday. The National Weather Service in Norman stated that exact rainfall amounts are uncertain, but most of Oklahoma is expected to receive at least quarter of an inch of rain by Sunday. Some localized areas may see more.

Flooding is still possible across Oklahoma during weekend storms.
Along with the heavy rain, flooding is still a possibility with this weekend's heavy rain. Flooding may occur in low-lying and poorly drained areas. Ponding in roadways is also possible.
Some areas could see one to two inches of rain by the end of the weekend with higher amounts possible. So make sure you pay attention to the forecast as you make plans for Valentine's Day this Saturday.
