Lawton’s Own Headlining Major Festival In Tulsa, Oklahoma
While hunting for free music festivals to attend in Oklahoma this year, I stumbled upon some of the coolest news that I think Lawton should be more proud of. One of our very own artists, Madison Ryann Ward, will be headlining a major festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ward is a Lawton local who has been performing live music for over a decade, and has accomplished some major achievements in her career. This year, she will be one of the three major headliners for the Tulsa Mayfest.
If you haven't heard of Madison Ward, then this year could be the year you take up the chance to see her live and completely free.
Who Is Madison Ward?
Growing up, Ward attended Cache High School, and competed heavily in sports - track, basketball, volleyball, etc. But she really stood out because of her music. What started as a viral moment on X, formerly known as Twitter, led straight to an incredible music journey.
She's known for having written and performed R&B, gospel, and blues music. She was able to perform for thousands of people while touring with acts like the Zac Brown Band, and performing for several festivals nationally.
This year, she's determined to not only pursue music once again, but to do so while still being true to herself and her faith. In an interview with Relevant Magazine, she said that her next album is all about the ability to "stand tall, no matter what it is that comes your way."
And there's a good chance we'll be hearing songs from the new album, and her own renditions of popular blues, indie, and R&B songs, at this year's Tulsa Mayfest.
What Is The Tulsa Mayfest?
Each May, Tulsa throws a massive arts and humanities free festival at the center of the Tulsa Arts District at the 101 Archer building. Here, they host live music concerts, art shows, special events, and more for the Mayfest.
