And now a few public saftey reminder tips for this Fourth of July weekend from your friends here at Townsquare Media Lawton. I know we're all looking forward to this weekend and it seems like it's been forever since we've been able to get together and have a good time. The COVID-19 pandemic last year pretty much put an end to all the usual Independence Day celebrations. So that means this year we're going BIG and most of us are planning massive cookouts, parties and going to various celebrations and fireworks displays.

Hopefully Mother Nature will be cooperative and we end up having some decent weather. Looks like most of the rain is moving out and good news, the weekend temperatures should be a round the 80-85 degree mark. That will seem cool when compared to year's past. Either way a few days off even in the rain is still a few days off. For most it will be a three day weekend. Pace yourself, it's a marathon, not a sprint!

Even with cooler temps you'll want to be careful with how much sun you get. Make sure if you're spending a lot of time outdoors that you use sunscreen and re-apply when needed. You don't want to burn and spend the rest of the weekend miserable. When it comes to food and drink I have to take my own advise every year and not over do it. We'll be grilling all weekend long so there's no need to stuff myself. I'll attempt one again this year to not devour everything in one sitting. I'll try to spread it across the entire weekend instead. We'll see...

If you're planning on doing some fireworks, be careful you don't want to spend any of your weekend in the ER losing precious three day weekend minutes on an injury that could have been avoided. of course the biggest safety issue is drinking and driving. Party like your possessed and have a great time but DRINK RESPONSIBLY. Whatever you do DO NOT get behind the wheel if you've been drinking, even a little. For your safety and the safety of your fellow motor enthusiasts! You can hardly celebrate Independence Day in a cage for DUI or DWI. Whatever it is you'll be up to this weekend I hope you have a happy and safe Fourth of July!
