After a week of good rainfall, it appears that the road that leads you up and down Mount Scott has taken some considerable damage. I won't say major damage, but enough to temporarily shut down the mountain.

While it was nice to green everything up and get a break from this years brutal Summer temps, all of that water has damaged the road bed up Mount Scott.

While repairs are beginning, there is no estimate yet on when normal tourism to our little mountain can continue. Until then, Mount Scott is closed to all travelers... Including all vehicles, bicycles, and hikers on foot. If you are planning a trip out there, don't wait to be surprised, you can always contact the Wichita Mountain Visitor Center - (580) 429-2197. They'll have the information you'll be looking for.
