Lawton's recent commitment to the passing of the Hotel Motel tax means good news for community non profits that benefit from the proceeds of this tax.  One of them is the Lawton Community Theatre.  When we spoke to Chance Harmon about the future of the LCT, he said that this funding was essential to keeping the doors open for the near future.  We are glad that LCT will be able to present programs like this one to SW Oklahoma.
Lawton Community Theatre and the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council will partner together to produce their annual spring children’s program.This year’s program will be “The Rainbow Fish Musical.”“The Rainbow Fish Musical” will be produced by Lawton Community Theatre and volunteer actors. Lawton Community Theatre will host virtual auditions for “The Rainbow Fish Musical”from Feb. 12-16.Auditions are open for ages 7 to15. All auditions must be submitted virtually nd include 30 seconds, or 16 bars, of a song of the auditionee’s choice and a performance of one of three provided monologues.All audition information can be found on the theater’s website,www.lawtoncommunitytheatre.com.
“The Rainbow Fish Musical” is based on the international bestseller and award-winning book“The Rainbow Fish” and its message of friendship and belonging.With shiny, multi-colored scales, Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in all of the ocean, and the only one of their kind.But when Rainbow Fish refuses to share their vibrant,shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature. Unhappy that no one adores them anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus, who helps them learn that it’s far better to be admired for being kind than for being beautiful.Every year, Lawton Community Theatre and the Lawton Arts  local students and their families.
