LAWTON, Okla. — Lawton Community Theatre welcomes Chance Harmon as its new executive director. Harmon is an established producer, director, actor, teaching artist and administrator from Wichita Falls, Texas.

He recently served as the Artistic Director of the The Wichita Theatre where he directed and performed in over 30 productions. He was also the Executive Director of The Wichita Theatre’s Acting Out in Class program, which was administered in area schools. Additionally, Harmon has worked for the St. Louis MUNY, America’s largest outdoor theater, as an Associate Producer and has performed in many regional productions. His credits include “Annie,” “42nd Street,” “Hello, Dolly!,” and the world premiere of “Sleeping Beauty,” where VARIETY called him, “A bright spot on the stage.” He was recently seen in “Sister Act the Musical” at the award-winning WaterTower Theatre in Addison, Texas.

“I am thrilled and honored to be named the new executive director of Lawton Community Theatre,” Harmon said. “And I look forward to overseeing the success and growth of this wonderful organization. I am delighted and encouraged by the dedicated board members and the thriving theater community who are passionate about the arts. Together, we will continue LCT’s mission to promote live theater and enrich the quality of life in Southwest Oklahoma by entertaining, enlightening and celebrating the human spirit.”

In addition to his theatrical experience, Harmon has a background in television production. He was casting director for the Viacom television networks, and during his many years in New York City he worked for MTV, VH-1, Food Network and Fox News. According to Marsha Thomas, LCT board president, Harmon comes to Lawton Community Theatre and the Lawton Fort Sill community with a willingness to take the theater to the next level.

“We are so happy to have Chance join our LCT family,” Thomas said. “He will bring an energy and excitement to our community.”

Thomas and the LCT Board of Directors invites the Lawton Fort Sill community to stop by the theater, located at 1316 NW Bell, to greet and meet Harmon. The theater will be open through Dec. 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday before closing for the Christmas holiday.
