This week's featured artist on Z94's "Local Licks @ Six" is Point Loma! They stopped by the studios with their C.D. "Untouchables" so we could catch up with the band & what's going on. Theirs is an interesting story & most of the band, if not the entire band is related to one another in some way or fashion...They're like the Partridge Family on steroids, if not crack! Point Loma also has to be the only local band that has a mother & son as members. The group range in age from 14 to older, how much older? They wouldn't tell. The band's been going strong for over 4 years & was originally created by Frank Dunshee who's certainly no stranger to the Lawton local music scene. Frank's been in several bands over the years & is an accomplished guitarist, drummer & all around musician of 40 plus years.

It all started when Frank saw the younger guys playing "Rock Band" & "Guitar Hero". He told them "Why play a game when I can teach you to play the real thing". They took him up on his offer and the rest is history. Each member has progressed & developed a real talent with not just their chosen instrument but pretty much every instrument in the band. From guitar, bass to drums they do it all & each member can trade off or fill in for the other. Talk about cross-training!

MEET THE MEMBERS OF POINT LOMA:

Point Loma is: Frank Dunshee, Angela Farmer, Donovan Bourgoin, Tyler Neal & James Hayes

While they don't necessarily look like your everyday rock band, you'd be foolish to pass them off & not give them a listen. They love it when people underestimate them. It makes blowing their minds & ear drums that much more rewarding. They have a real grungy southern rock/metal vibe & are fronted by the lovely Angela Farmer who delivers the lyrics in a soulful, yet threatening kick your teeth in style. She's also the mother of  fellow band mate Donovan Bourgoin. He's the drummer, guitarist, bassist. Like I said these guys do it all. The entire band from youngest to oldest are what make this band so unique & special. They might not have thought 4 years ago that they'd be doing anything or going anywhere but Point Loma are on the move.  Here's the interview & the tracks that were featured on the show:
