New Texas House Bill to Allow Liquor Stores to Sell on Sunday
Texas Blue Laws are as old as Betty White, but only Betty ages gracefully.
One of the remaining Blue Laws on the books is the restriction of retail liquor sales to only Monday through Saturday. Well, one Representative, from Laredo, wants to change that.
Richard Pena Raymond introduced H.B. 1100 which, if passed, would allow package liquor stores to open seven days a week. The bill would also allow liquor stores to be open from 9am to 10pm, Monday-Saturday, and noon until 10pm on Sundays.
There's nothing like the ability to make that last-minute run to the liquor store to get stocked up before the big game on Sunday.
I guess only time will tell if there's enough bipartisan support for this bill.
Now, if we can only get Chic-fil-A to open on Sunday...
