Now is the Time to Reach Out About Oklahoma Permanent Daylight Savings
There's still six weeks of Daylight Savings left in 2024 before we fall back to standard time. At which point we'll be four months away from jumping back ahead one hour for next year, all the while Oklahoma and 18 other state have been patiently waiting for Congress to allow us to stay on Daylight Savings year round.
Now is the time to contact your representative in Washington DC.
Why? Because they're all caught up in arguing a bill to keep the government from shutting down, this would be a line-item that would so easily sneak into a bill like that... which is how politics in Washington work anyway.
You have to pass the bill so you can find out what's in it.
- Nancy Pelosi
Nineteen states have passed some type of measure to swap their state onto permanent Daylight Savings time, but it requires the approval of Congress to happen.
Some states have been waiting six years for this to happen, and in all fairness, regardless of which party controls what, none of our elected officials are working on issues that directly relate to the everyday American... but if we all suddenly inundate our representatives and senators about this, and they include a blurb in the government funding bill about it, we might not even have to fall back to standard time this year. We could enjoy a later sunset in winter and never have to hot-swap time of day again.
