Even though Oklahoma rarely stays below freezing for more than a day or two at a time, the Sooner State is getting its own outdoor ice skating rink for the first time in a very long time.

A few particulars to note... They're not actually building a permanent liquid-cooled modern ice rink that'll be a part of the OKC landscape from now on, it's temporary... and it's not actually made of ice, but rather a super slick synthetic ice rink and they are packing on the activities a family can have to boot.

Alongside ice skating, Oklahoma fans of Olympic curling will finally get a chance to throw the stones. That should be pretty epic since the sport is so simplistically intense.

Enthusiasts will also get their chance to enjoy a little light Alpine climbing, snowboarding, and skiing. Top off the day with hot chocolate and time spent around the fire pit. This is going to be cool.

So where is it going to be? Riversport Adventures... You know, where the white-water rafting happens just South of Bricktown.

They're calling it, at least for the season, Winter Glow Nordic Adventures.

They'll open on November 26th and remain open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through January 9th... the only exceptions being Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve.

While these winter sports are included in the regular Riversport annual pass, tickets are available per day, $20 for adults, $10 for kids, and $5 for spectators. These prices include all of the activities... at least that's how I read it on the website.

The day you want to catch all the action is December 4th. There will be a river parade for the holiday and it'll include lots of lights, seasonal characters, and fireworks to end the evening.

You can get all the details here.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
