Oklahoma’s Highest-Rated Lighthouse is also OK’s Only Lighthouse
If you spend enough time traveling around Oklahoma, there is no shortage of things to see.
The world's biggest sasquatch. The blue whale. And Oklahoma's highest-rated lighthouse - the Oklahoma Lighthouse - located on Lake Hefner in OKC...
It's also Oklahoma's only lighthouse - sort of.
It's the only lighthouse in the state that is considered to be on "navigable water." Even though it's a lake, and a big lake at that, it qualifies.
The other lighthouse.
There is one other lighthouse listed in the annuls of lighthouse records online, way out in Western Oklahoma.
Centennial Lighthouse was erected overlooking a pond built in the same park area as the Elk City elementary and high schools. It was to celebrate Oklahoma's 100th year anniversary back in 2007 - but since the pond isn't considered "navigable water," it's a technicality.
It's still a pretty sight to behold during a signature Oklahoma sunset though...
