Oklahoma Needs Rain Badly, But Hail And Storms May Come With It
We've made it to the unofficial start of Summer across Oklahoma, and it comes with a slight chance of severe storms throughout the day. Hail up to the size of Sonic Tater Tots, along with much-needed rain.
The Sooner State needs rain in the worst way in the predicted storm watch area.
Here's the rundown.
On again/off again rain like we've been having the last few days, but it's going to continue through the weekend into next week. While some storms may be heavy, the only threat of severe the computer models are predicting is expected this afternoon and through the night.
While the marginal area of severe weather covers most of Oklahoma, the slightly enhanced and closely watched area is mostly out to the West.
Rain, wind, and hail are expected, but tornado activity should be at a minimum, with incredibly low odds as of now.
Hope for rain.
With a large portion of Western OK now within an exceptional drought condition, everyone is hoping for rain. It's a toss-up on whether it comes or not.
This portion of the state has seen outlooks identical to this, and even worse than this, and somehow the rain manages to skip right over it and beeline for the I-35 corridor.
On the other hand, while the wheat harvest doesn't hold much optimism due to the drought, any amount of hail could potentially wreck what little there is now that it's coming into maturity.
This is just another forecast that I think most Oklahomans pray is wrong.
