Oklahoma Faces Fourth Straight Weekend Storm Threat
Well, it just wouldn't be spring without a chance of severe weather at the end of the week, and so far, Mother Nature is coming through on that promise again with our fourth weekly storm system in a row.
Luckily, while there is a chance for severe weather, it's not as high or enhanced as the last few rounds have been.
What to expect later this week.
Mainly, severe thunderstorms. Mostly wind and rain, the possibility of a little hail. The tornado risk is, at this moment, on the very low side.
Thankfully, this system of storms is going to give Northwest OK a little bit of a break. They've been hammered enough so far this year, they've earned a reprieve.
This is going to affect the southwestern, central, and southern portions of the state starting Thursday (April 23rd).
By Friday, the risk moves eastward.
Eastern Oklahoma is also included in this severe weather outlook.
If not taking the brunt on Thursday, they're practically centered for storms and in for a long night on Friday.
It's important to note, like every Oklahoman does this time of year, you don't have to completely plan your life around the forecast... but you'll want to stay weather aware.
Chances are pretty low this round will produce anything serious. Storm risks are at 15% as of this morning, but we all know how quickly the forecast can change and ramp up as the weather systems change in real time.
If you're counting, and admit it, we all are, this will make four "into the weekend" severe weather systems in a row for Oklahoma. On the plus side, there are whispers at the moment that May will be cool and calm. We won't have that data for another week or so, hope for the best.
