Oklahoma Warm Spell May End With a Quick Shot of Snow
While it certainly doesn't feel like it at the moment, 70°-80° across Oklahoma in the middle of February, there is a decent chance the Sooner State is in for more snow in the next 7 to 10 days.
As amazing as this early spring feels, I know that sounds like fake news, but it's not. Granted, it's not a lot of snow, and the probability says it'll likely be dustings of snow across the panhandle and Northern Oklahoma, but snow is snow.
Also, it's not going to stick if it does snow. Soil temperatures are nearly warm enough to sprout crabgrass, so it'll all melt the moment it touches the ground. I think most Oklahomans prefer their snow that way anyway.
The Forecast
Most weather outlets aren't looking at it just yet, it's still pretty far out, but our own National Weather Service has issued some very conservative projections of possibilities. It's not "official" forecast yet, just what could happen in the coming days.
Keep in mind, the NWS is as conservative as Oklahoma's personality meteorologists are liberal with the forecast. There are some weather pros out there calling for inches of snow anywhere north of I-40 from the far western border to Missouri and Arkansas.
Take it with a grain of salt.
The Impacts
Unless this system takes a sharp change, there shouldn't be much of an impact. Your typical Oklahoma here-and-gone type of snow, likely melting as it falls or gone completely by the next morning. It's been so warm, it's not sticking around at all.
Keep in mind, the dates may change. The weather always does. This is pretty far out and only time will tell.
