What a difference 24-hours can make when it comes to the weather. Last week we started talking about the possibility of a decent ice and snow event sweeping across the state. Sunday saw that prediction become a forecast, and Oklahoma’s snow hype became way overblown yesterday morning.

I'm sure you've seen the snowmageddon maps all over social media by now. Everyone is talking 9-13 inches of snow across the state, which would be amazing... But our meteorologists have a nasty habit of flip-flopping the script.

The more conservative and trusted weather pros are already saying those early totals are way too high. Right now, it looks like most of Oklahoma will see 1-3 inches. The storm could still pack a punch in spots, with heavier spots in the thick of the storm getting 4-6 inches.

As our snow day gets closer, these snow totals could shrink even more, or just turn into slush and ice. It’s still Oklahoma, where nobody knows what's going on and the forecasts don't matter. I wouldn't give in to the hype just yet.
