Oklahoma’s Bid To Stay On Standard Time Is Over
Oklahoma has been working to stay on a single time standard since 2018, and the saga has now come to a close in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Whether you prefer standard time or permanent daylight savings, it has been an uphill battle.
DST fans want that extra hour of daylight in the evenings, especially in the colder months when it gets dark at 5:30 pm.
Others would prefer the morning light of Standard Time all year round, making for some very early sunrises and less evening light in the summertime.
As it stands, any state in the US may opt to remain on permanent Standard Time if they so choose... but many states would prefer permanent DST.
Since it has been seven years with no decision from our elected officials in DC, Oklahoma tried to settle for permanent Standard Time, but with a recent vote against it in the OK House, we're back to waiting on Washington to do something. Anything.
While Standard Time failed in the state, there's still hope for year-round DST. You're encouraged to reach out to your federal politicians.
I've done so in the past, and it seems our Representatives and Senators tend to pass on this buck as they're not members of whatever committee is charged with deciding the time in America.
If you'd prefer to be on Standard Time, good news... We'll hop back on it next fall.
