Splash Park at Elmer Thomas Park to Open This Saturday
This weekend on Saturday (06-27-20) the Lawton splash parks will re-open for the 2020 Summer season. The splash park at Elmer Thomas Park on 2nd and Ferris and the Clement Washington Sr. splash park on 6th and Belmont. Unfortunately all the municipal pools and wading pools will remain closed due to Lawton budget constraints.
There will be occupancy restrictions at both splash parks and all the familiar CDC guidelines for combating COVID-19 will be in place including proper hygiene and social distancing. It will be difficult for the kids, especially little ones to understand the need to social distance but families are encouraged to gather by household.
The hours of operation for the splash park at Elmer Thomas Park will be Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30am to 6:00pm. The Clement Washington Sr. splash park will be open 12:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Saturday. When not in operation the City of Lawton will increase the frequency of cleaning and sanitation at the parks.
Looking forward to this weekend it sounds like Mother Nature will be cooperative. We'll have some really nice weather with temperatures in the mid-90s and mostly sunny skies. It'll be the perfect weekend and weather to return to the splash parks. Maybe pack a picnic and enjoy a full day at the park with the family. We could all use some outdoor time with fresh air and sunshine, not to mention exercise.
If you plan on going to either of the splash parks be responsible and follow all the rules and of course have a great time. For additional details and contact information see the official press release from the City of Lawton below:
