The City of Lawton is updating its online utility payment and services website. The new and improved portal will launch on Monday, March 21st (03-21-22). The updated system will be far superior to the current one and will be a one-stop shop for not only paying your utility bill but all kinds of other services as well.
If you're needing some help paying your electric bill OKDHS (Oklahoma Department of Human Services) can help lend a hand. They have a program called LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) that you can apply for and use to help pay your power bill. It's not only for Summer months, but for the Winter time too.
Just when you think there's no way possible for the Lawton City Council to be more unpopular, they go and do this! Later today (06-08-21) around 2:00pm CST at City Hall 212 S.W. 9th Street in downtown the Lawton City Council will meet and discuss the possibility of raising our utilities, A.K.A the water bill. They're thinking about increasing every section or item on the bill including: water, refuse, sewer and landfill services. Great, that's just great! At a time when most people are struggling and trying to keep their heads above water, pun intended!
The Oklahoma Senate has passed a few bills recently to help Oklahomans, protecting them from going broke from trying to pay their electric/gas bills. SB 1049 and SB 1050 have both passed the Senate and are expected to head to the House soon.
