I recently returned home from a bit of r&r back to my hometown where I spent most of my time working on my nephew's motorcycles. They're young and just now learning about essential routine maintenance. Tightening chains, oil changes, and how to hilariously patch a hole in a motor with epoxy putty.

Good times.

When it was time for me to leave and return to Lawton, they decided to send me off after a steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse... and we couldn't stop laughing at the predicament they seem to be in these days.

As we're all aware from the overall cost of living at the moment, inflation is at record highs even though Washington and the government keeps on insisting it isn't, here's a great metric for measuring the crisis without complicated and politically skewed math...

Look at the size of these tiny Texas Roadhouse rolls.

For illustrative purposes, I don't have big hands. I wear a size XL in just about every glove I put on, but they're not bigger than normal... these rolls are just adorably tiny!

After having a good time chatting about them in disbelief while waiting on our food, we decided to ask our server. She simply just said, "Eh, inflation..."

How crazy is that?

$4 gas sucks. Doubled grocery bills suck. An $84 minimum Lawton water bill sucks, but half-size Texas Roadhouse rolls might take the cake for telling future generations just how bad these four years are going to end up. The only thing worse I can imagine is a day when they start charging for them.

"Say it ain't so Texas Roadhouse!"

I haven't been to our local Roadhouse in a bit, so I can't tell you if it's a widespread Tx Roadhouse corporate policy or a local, individual restaurant type of thing, but the conversation at that table was all sorts of fun when she busted these donut-hole sized rolls out for us to share.

So tiny, bless their hearts.
