Southwest Oklahoma has had an amazingly smooth start to Spring. Sure, the lingering frost and freezing temps weren't very welcome, but the skies didn't turn on us either. There were a few systems across the area dumping much needed rains, maybe a little bit of hail, but nothing like we normally see. Now May is roaring into the region with our first forecasted severe weather outbreak.

Like most forecasts, these are just really good guesses. There is no real way to tell what exactly is going to happen, but we are in an enhanced state of risk along with most of Western Oklahoma. It's not too late to prepare though... If you haven't gathered your tornado essentials prep kit, take half an hour and get it together. You don't want to be taking shelter with no entertainment.
